Welcome to the City of Chicago website for the North Lawndale: Ogden Avenue, Pulaski to Roosevelt Corridor Improvements Project

Project Overview

The City of Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) has kicked off a new project to revitalize Ogden Avenue, from Pulaski Road to Roosevelt Road, within the North Lawndale community.

The Ogden Avenue Corridor Improvements Project is an opportunity to reimagine Ogden Avenue as a multimodal transportation corridor, as a hub for community activity, and catalyst for economic development. The goals of the project are to improve safety for all users of this corridor, repurpose and activate public spaces, and transform this corridor into one that reflects the unique identity of North Lawndale. Hearing from all community stakeholders throughout the project is essential for the design to reflect the community’s vision and priorities.

Multiple public engagement and input opportunities will be provided to develop a community vision for the corridor and provide feedback on concept designs that reflect North Lawndale’s unique character and needs. For further information about this project, please view and share the project fact sheet. These include Community Advisory Group (CAG) Meetings, North Lawndale Roundtable Updates, Community Workshops, Public Meetings, and Public Surveys.

Project Timeline

The City of Chicago Department of Transportation has initiated a Phase I study of the Ogden Avenue Corridor Improvements Project in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Transportation, as Ogden Avenue is a state route. This includes community visioning, design development, preliminary engineering, and environmental clearances. The public will be engaged at every stage of the process. Phase II of the project will be the Detailed Design, during which final engineering plans are developed, followed by construction.
